Our Vision

"Our vision is to bring the full life of Jesus to all, to grow as a community of his followers, to deepen our faith, and to be grateful for God's gifts as we use them wisely."

Christ Church Henley  is  a community of Christians – that is,  together with Christians all over the world, we belong to, love, serve and trust the living Lord Jesus Christ, and aim to live for Him and make Him known. This is why!

We meet every Sunday to gather around the Bible and offer thanks and praise to Jesus, to learn from His word, and to re-centre our lives on Him – all based on a solid Christian foundation. We extend a warm invitation to you to join us and to enjoy a ‘meet and greet our members‘ over refreshments afterwards.

Christ Church Henley was born in 1662.  Read here about our history and how since then we have been continuing to worship through our wider work in the Henley community.  We are part of the United Reformed Church.

Christ Church Henley is a ‘family‘, caring  for one another and  the community around us. We do this  through our church life and through the   Christ Church Centre , facilities used by a wide range of community groups. Our home-groups, Bible study, prayer and conversation  are an ideal way to forge friendships and encourage each other  in an informal setting.  We  hold many social events as we celebrate highlights in the Christian calendar such as Christmas, Harvest, Easter.

Our Monday afternoon  Busy Bees program is ideal for anyone with a hand-crafting skill who would love to join us, meeting new friends with shared interests.  We also run a bereavement support group, “Late Spring” , in partnership with AgeUK.   The Wednesday morning  Memory Cafe provides an opportunity to socialize for those living with dementia and their carers.

We follow the instructions of Jesus  and engage  actively in a variety of events where we can reach out to our community to spread the good news of the gospel. We tell people about Jesus and Christianity and encourage them to think about their faith and how they respond to the message. We are active members of Churches Together in Henley and support all their events.

Discipling is about  deepening  our faith and growing  as Jesus-followers.  We dig deeper into the  Bible in our  HENLEY BIBLE SCHOOL and have a number of home-groups. Our elders  have a full program of visiting and encouraging the church members under their care.  One way we share the faith is  the monthly “MESSY CHURCH” , two hours which offer worship, Bible-stories, crafts and games and closes with a hot meal. Especially good for children  but all ages are welcome!

What some of ‘our church family’ members say

“I have come to know ‘Christ Church Henley’ to be a place that delights in the Bible, where the ministerial leadership of Church worship provides for an excellent environment to support one’s spiritual growth! We also have an engaging and friendly Church family!”

Rob Lazzaro

“Christ church is a very friendly church which offers me the evangelism I expect with my Huguenot background. Our Bible reading group is so interesting  & Our Church is lovely : Everybody is welcome”.

Muriel Quinsac

“In today’s world with so much “fake Christianity” going around, I really appreciate the solid teaching that we get at Christ Church from our Minister – Glyn Millington. And, coupled with a very friendly community, this is a great church to attend.”

Heather Mckibbin

I was really excited by the prospect of being part of a home group. I joined Christ Church because I was looking for a local, friendly church that was Bible focused. I found that at Christ Church. I’ve made real friends that I can call ‘My family‘”

I was delighted that I was able to use my home church, Christ Church Henley, as the venue for my wedding ceremony. It was ideal and provided just the right ambience from which Jaco and I could start our married life together.
